How Does Waxing Work?

Wax on: With soft wax, also called strip wax, warm or cold wax is spread over hair in the direction of its growth and a paper or cloth strip is then placed on top to help remove the wax and hair. Hard wax, also called strip-less wax, doesn't require a strip because it cools solid enough, and becomes a strip in itself. What should you be doing/not be doing between waxes? In order to have the best waxing results, make sure that your hair is grown out to about 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch. This is the ideal length for hair to be before getting waxed because it will allow the wax to get a better grip on the hair and be removed directly from the root, rather than just the hair above the skin. If you are transiting between waxing and shaving, avoid shaving after a wax and if your hair is starting to grow, as shaving reverses the effect of waxing.

Note: Keep your skin moisturized between waxing to avoid in grown hairs. Avoid using antiperspirants if underarms have been waxed for 24hrs and avoid sunbathing directly after waxing treatments.

Wax off. The wax is pulled off in the opposite direction of hair growth. The entire hair follicle should be removed from the root.

In relation to pubic hair, with the reduction in the size of swimsuits, especially since the coming into fashion and popularity of the bikini since 1946, and the elimination of the skirt on swimsuits, the styling of pubic hair has also come into vogue. The practice to remove more pubic hair continued with the popularity or fashion of even briefer swim wear, such as the thong, which exposed the buttocks.

How long does a good body wax last? Waxing is a fairly long-lasting method of hair removal – it can last from 3 to 6 weeks. Better yet, the hair grows back more softer and sparser, not stubbly. If you wax consistently, waxing will change the growth cycle and physiology of your hair follicle. Continued waxing will also cause hair growth to diminish over time. It is the process of weakening the hair follicle with repeated treatment the hair growth reduces.

What is the difference between Hard Wax and Strip Wax? Hard Wax is a peel off wax applied thickly on the skin and removed with your fingertips. It is used for waxing sensitive & delicate areas such as eyebrows, upper lip, facial waxing, underarms, bikini line & Brazilian waxing. Strip Wax is applied thinly and removed with a waxing strip; this is great for larger areas of skin such as the legs, arms, back, chest and some facial waxing .
